A purple 39 chevy… how awesome to include it in your family portrait. Crystal’s dad gave the car to her and a lot of time was spent refurbishing it to its new beautiful state… you should hear it run! I love to try to get families to think outside the typical family portrait that looks just like everyone elses… a special prop, a location special to them… whatever! … and this sitting was meant to be. After days and days of dreary, dreadful weather, the day for the Vinklarek family session was awesome… a little cool but otherwise beautiful! We had planned to go to the woods at Crystal’s parents’ farm for some shots too but since we’ve had so much rain we had to stick to drier ground!

Flyin’ high…

Lyla loved looking at herself in the shiny paint job!

What a sweet, sweet little girl… weighing in at only 5 lbs and 4 oz and 19 inches… so adorable!
Newborn sessions are so neat when they’re done in the baby’s home. It’s so much easier on the new parents and it’s also really neat because all of the baby’s special things are right there! I love designing custom albums and custom layouts with the images to make something really special. I also can design birth announcements for you to send to all your friends and family…

I am posting an article about an article I came across… very good points…
What Makes a Photographer a True Professional?
I came across an article today that was a very interesting read. It was meant to be shown to photographers, but I actually feel this is a good read for the public to clue them in on the industry of photography. Let’s face it, custom photography is not cheap!
Why go to a photographer *cough, cough* who charges $50 for an 8×10 when you can hop onto a place like Craigslist and get a whole session for $50 that includes 100’s of high resolution images on CD that includes a full copyright? With all the new fancy cameras out now, why not just go out and buy your own Canon Rebel for $500 and take your own pics?
I’ve been shooting and perfecting my craft for over 20 years now. I’m a great photographer (Not modest am I?), but I’m not the best writer. So I’ve never been very good at trying to explain why there are such differences in the cost in photography. But the truth is, you get what you pay for when it comes to photography.
There is a WORLD of difference between a good portrait studio and a cheap burn and shoot photographer. One excerpt from the article says, “there is always going to be a place for the new pro, the part-timer, and the person who serves special niche markets that can’t afford top of the line products” and I fully believe that. But I also think the public really needs to understand the difference and know what they are getting themselves into. In my opinion, important dates and milestones (weddings, maternity, first birthdays) only come once so you shouldn’t take any chances.

Now for a limited time, I’m holding the $99 special for high school seniors of 2010. To take advantage of this special, you must call to schedule your appointment by no later than February 20th, and you must have your session done by no later than March 31st. I do allow for rescheduling in case of bad weather. I know how busy all the seniors are so I do offer evening and weekend appointments for your convenience. The $99 special includes the basic session with two outfits, studio and/or location, 1-8×10, 2-5×7’s, and 16 wallet sized photos… see below for more details! Add extra outfits for just $10 per outfit.
The special is for studio or location….. To offer the absolute most in variety most people like to combine studio along with the outdoors. I love to do traditional, timeless portraits but also suggest that you seriously consider including your things and your ideas in your session… I am very flexible and want to work with you to create something outrageous. You ARE only a senior once so take advantage of this awesome time in your life to really express yourself. After your senior year is over, you’ll NEVER be able to go back to that time in your life and will ALWAYS treasure that time forever and ever.

I have so many things to offer for the HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR. Many are concerned about acne… not to worry! I offer the Basic finish for those with the flawless complexions but also off the Regal and Marquis finish for those concerned about removal of blemishes and other imperfections.
Custom Designed graduation announcements and party invitations are also extremely popular and start at only $39 for 25 cards. Don’t forget to ask about those. Along with those, I sell custom designed composites in various sizes, canvas wrapped prints, professionally printed enlargements and wallets and CD’s of your entire session. Whatever your needs are, I will work with you to get exactly what you want. Feel free to call me at 979-733-3092 or email me at dianek@txun.net for more details.

Now’s the time to start planning for your GRADUATION CARDS AND INVITATIONS before you place your order for the “boring” cards that the school has to offer. Most people think of ordering wallet sized photos to place in those boring cards but you don’t need to do that! You can place your order for your Custom Designed Graduation announcements and other cards and have several photos along with all the party or graduation ceremony information all on the SAME card!!! I offer several different styles of cards including the photo cards or the press printed flat or folded cards in various sizes. If you’d like your own unique idea, we can put our heads together and create something just for you… different than all of your friends!!! The 4×8 photo cards are only $39 for 25 cards and the 4×5 flat cards are only $49 for 25 cards. The 5×7 flat cards are $55 for 25 cards and the folded cards are slightly higher but you have a total of four pages to place your photos and information on. Quantity prices can be quoted if you need 50, 75, 100, or more!!!
I’ll post just a few samples below but to see more go to www.dmueller.smugmug.com.

I’ve been waiting so patiently for this day although my husband might not agree about the patient part!
In fall of 2008, we started the large task of remodeling the house we bought in La Grange with the intention of finishing that and then building a new photography studio for me on the property out back so I wouldn’t have to drive to my old studio in Weimar every time I needed the camera room. Time flew by and we finally finished the remodeling in November of 2009 …. Okay, great! Now we can start the studio…
Hurdle number one! It’s impossible to get fill dirt for a slab when it won’t quit raining! Who in the world would have thought we’d be complaining about the rain now with the awful dry summer we had along with the months and months of no rain before that…. Well today Mr. Anders showed up with 9 loads of fill dirt!!! Yippee!!! That’s really cool because it’s supposed to start raining tonight … just in time to pack down the fill dirt that my husband spent 5 hours spreading… I had to make him a homemade chocolate meringue pie because I thought he deserved something special for all his hard work…
Next will come the plumbing and the slab… I’m sure more patience will be needed in the future… Hopefully mother nature will cooperate! We’ll see!
The first truck load… I was so worried that it was gonna sink with all that weight.
Roy is such an artist with his tractor… He amazes me!

Stay tuned for more construction updates soon (I hope)!

After a really busy 2009, (selling a house in Weimar, moving to La Grange, remodeling a house, etc.) we took a little vacation to Pagosa Springs, Colorado. It was a REALLY long drive but was soooooooooo worth it. I had a chance to go skiing again… something my husband feard… he was afraid I would hurt myself (but I didn’t) and then we also had a chance to go snowmobiling. It was so amazing even though there was a tiny little incident where I got into too much “fluff” and turned my sled over.
We arrived in Pagosa Springs early in the morning and it was so amazing to see the morning sun glistening off the snow and ice. It looked like twinkle lights everywhere. Something so beautiful that it’s impossible to capture in pictures. I have to say that the temperatures here back at home have been feeling a LOT colder than those we experienced in Colorado…. even though the thermometer said 3 degrees when we arrived.
Assuming all goes well, we are hoping to get started on the new studio in La Grange soon. I think it’s actually dry enough to get fill dirt now so I hope my dear husband can pull some strings and get that fill dirt so we can get this show on the road. I will post pictures as things move along… For now though, shots of our Colorado trip…

Look closely and see the elk!
