Photographing your newborn is such an amazing experience. They change and grow so quickly, capturing this beautiful time is so precious and such an honor for me.
So that you don’t miss a single moment of your precious new little one’s first year, I have designed two different packages for my clients. Please read the “Newborn Session Information” for additional details about the sessions. These plans offer the bonus of discounted session fees and the chance to purchase your session dvd with permission to print at a discounted rate. An a la carte plan is also available. Discount coupons may NOT be used for any of these sessions since they are already discounted!
Boutique Baby – 5 sessions are included in this plan…. Maternity, newborn, 3, 6, and 12 months. Each Session is $65 for the session fee and you can purchase the high resolution image cd with printing rights for $165 for each session. After all 5 sessions are completed, you will receive a beautiful 11×14 gallery wrap portrait (a $160 value) of your favorite pose from one of the sessions. Up to two sessions can be done at the location of your choice within a 20 mile radius of the studio. Additional location sessions can be added for $40 plus any additional mileage past the first 20 miles. The newborn session may include mom and dad. Additional family may be included in one of the remaining sessions … maternity, 3, 6, or 12 months for no additional charge. Each session includes unlimited clothing changes.
Angel Baby – 3 sessions are included in this plan…. newborn (within 2 weeks of birth), at 6 months (best done when your child is sitting up alone unsupported so if that’s really 7 months, that’s okay), and one year. Each Session is $75 for the studio session and you can purchase the cd with printing rights for $185 for each session. After all 3 sessions are completed, you will receive a beautiful 8×10 gallery wrap portrait (a $110 value) of your favorite pose from one of the sessions. One of these sessions may be done at the location of your choice within a 20 mile radius of the studio. Additional location sessions can be added for $50 plus any additional mileage past the initial 20 miles. The newborn session may include mom and dad. Additional family may be included in either the 6 or 12 month sessions for no additional charge. Each session includes unlimited clothing changes.
A La Carte Newborn Sessions – For those not wanting to participate in a plan, I offer the a la carte method. A standard studio newborn session is $100 with all prints ordered from the regular price list. Up to two hours of time is allowed for this session. Mom and Dad may be added for no additional charge but there is a charge of $50 for adding older siblings into this session. Newborn sessions can be quite lengthy because of the time and patience involved in getting many of the shots. Extra time is also needed to allow for feeding, changing, and soothing the baby. For this reason, I do not recommend that you add siblings to this session. For location, add $50 within a 20 mile radius. For areas outside that radius mileage will be added after the first 20 miles.

The very best time for newborns to be photographed is within the first 10 days of life. It is during this time that they are incredibly flexible, so sleepy, and make for wonderful and timeless images. Baby acne and colic tend to flare up around 3 weeks, so the time frame really is imperative.
Please contact me while you are still pregnant so that I may tentatively schedule your session in around your due date, or at the very least, call me as soon as you get home from the hospital to set up your session.
A newborn session is very relaxed and typically takes a few hours. As a mother myself, I understand the need for feedings, diaper changes, and snuggle time to soothe baby back to sleep. Remaining calm and patient is also very important. I am often applauded for my incredible patience with newborns and children.
I have lots of props and backgrounds at the studio that are just marvelous for newborns but I also LOVE coming to your home if you would prefer. Many parents put so much time and thought into the baby’s nursery so it’s great to photograph your newborn in their new room.
I happen to believe that newborns are very soft and cuddly and I believe that they should be photographed that way…. with soft, beautiful lighting that compliments their soft, beautiful skin. As a Master Photographer, I can assure you that I will find or create that beautiful lighting for your newborn.
Newborns are absolutely perfect when photographed in their birthday suits! I prefer to keep things simple, while still including swaddling blankets and other soft, textured throws. You are, however, welcome to bring any props you’d like included in the session and I will do my best to accommodate you. Parents, plan on getting in a few of the shots with your newborn… If you are worried about appearing too heavy having just delivered your new baby, don’t worry, most often you are just included in the portraits as an accent with the main focus being on the newborn. Also, remember that darker solid clothing will make you appear slimmer in the portraits.
For a typical newborn session, I always allow at least three hours of time, though a session can be shorter. I know that very tiny people are just getting used to being out in the world, and they might need extra time for feedings or soothing. Oftentimes, the peaceful nature of the session involves taking short breaks and waiting until the baby is sleeping (or calm) to take the pictures.
On the day of the session, feed the baby just before the session time so your baby will be content and sleepy. So that we can get those incredibly cute poses in their birthday suit, swaddle the baby in just a blanket. This way we can avoid disturbing the baby by trying to undress him. This also helps so that we can avoid indentions in their skin caused by clothing.
